NIGERIA SECURES DIPLOMATIC APPROVAL FOR 97% OF AMBASSADOR

The Federal Government says 65 of the 69 ambassadors-designate appointed by President Bola Tinubu have received diplomatic approval from their host countries, representing a 97 per cent acceptance rate.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said only Japan and Mexico are yet to grant formal approval, expressing confidence that both countries will do so in due course.
The ministry also disclosed that the ambassador-designate to Togo declined the appointment, while the nominee to Algeria died before completing the process. It added that most of the approved ambassadors have already presented their Letters of Credence and commenced diplomatic duties in their respective host countries.
