EBONYI POLICE COMMENCE STRICT ENFORCEMENT OF TRAFFIC LAWS
By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban
The Ebonyi State Police Command has commenced strict enforcement of traffic laws across the state following increasing violations of road safety regulations by motorists.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu, said the exercise was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police for sustained enforcement of traffic laws nationwide.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Hope Okafor, has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and other personnel to ensure full compliance with traffic regulations in their areas of jurisdiction.
The command said the enforcement applies to everyone, including serving police officers and other security personnel, and urged motorists to obey all traffic rules.
It also directed officers to carry out the exercise professionally and with respect for the rights of members of the public.
The police said the enforcement is aimed at reducing preventable road crashes, protecting lives and property, and promoting safer roads across Ebonyi State.
