POLICE RECOVER TWO FABRICATED PISTOLS, CULT-INSCRIBED CAPS IN ANAMBRA

The Anambra State Police Command has recovered two fabricated pistols and three caps bearing inscriptions associated with the Vikings Confraternity from an abandoned motorcycle in Awka North Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement, saying the items were recovered on Thursday, August 13, 2026, during a routine patrol by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
According to Ikenga, the operatives were patrolling along the Isuaniocha Bridge in the afternoon when they spotted two young men riding a black Sanyang motorcycle without a registration number.
He said the suspects became suspicious upon sighting the police team and suddenly reversed the motorcycle in an attempt to evade the officers, prompting the operatives to give chase.
During the pursuit, the suspects reportedly fell from the motorcycle and abandoned it, along with a bag and two slippers, before escaping into a nearby bush.
A subsequent search of the abandoned bag led to the discovery of two fabricated pistols and three caps bearing an inscription linked to the Vikings Confraternity.
The police said efforts were already underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and establish their identities, affiliations and the circumstances surrounding their possession of the firearms and other items.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Nnanna Ama, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations and proactive policing to prevent and disrupt criminal activities across the state.
Ama also directed officers to intensify efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, while urging residents to continue providing useful information to the police to support ongoing security operations.
