The Nigerian Army has dismissed reports claiming that a group of Islamic scholars was abducted at the Talata Mafara residence of Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari in Zamfara State.

The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division and Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, described the reports as false and misleading.

The Army said intelligence gathered by security agencies showed that the victims were allegedly abducted while travelling from the Sububu Forest axis in Bakura Local Government Area towards Talata Mafara.

According to the military, troops, working with other security agencies and local intelligence networks, have intensified efforts to locate and rescue the victims.

The Army urged the public to disregard unverified reports and remain calm while security agencies work to resolve the situation. It also called on residents to provide timely and credible information that could assist ongoing rescue efforts.
