NIGERIA REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR WTO AND GLOBAL TRADE

Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the multilateral trading system, stressing the importance of global cooperation in promoting economic growth.
Vice President Kashim Shettima said no country can achieve sustainable prosperity in isolation, calling for stronger cooperation among nations.
Shettima spoke during a meeting with WTO Director-General, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India.
The Vice President also described migration as an important driver of development and innovation, highlighting the contributions of Nigerians living and working abroad.
He commended Okonjo-Iweala for her leadership at the WTO and encouraged her to continue supporting efforts towards global economic development.
Shettima is also expected to present Nigeria’s investment opportunities and partnership prospects to BRICS leaders, while highlighting the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and its focus on reforms, infrastructure and private-sector-led growth.
