KEBBI GOVT BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF 34KM RURAL ROADS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has flagged off the construction of two road projects covering 34 kilometres in Dukku–Tarasa and Birnin Lafiya–Gulma–Natsini to improve rural connectivity and boost economic activities.

The two-kilometre Dukku–Tarasa road in Birnin Kebbi is expected to be completed within six months, while the 32-kilometre Birnin Lafiya–Gulma–Natsini road in Argungu Local Government Area has a 12-month completion timeline.

Governor Idris said the projects were part of his campaign promises and aimed at easing transportation, connecting rural communities to urban centres and improving access to markets and essential services.

He added that better roads would support farmers and traders by making it easier to transport agricultural produce and goods.

Residents of the benefiting communities welcomed the projects, expressing hope that the roads would reduce transportation difficulties and create more economic opportunities.
