FG APPROVES INCLUSION OF CITIZENSHIP STUDY IN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS CURRICULAR                                                                                                               10-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Federal government has approved the inclusion of citizenship study in primary and secondary schools curricula to ensure early inculcation of national values among Nigerians.

The Director General National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu made this known at a news conference in Owerri to unveil the national values charter recently adopted by the federal executive council.

He explained that the charter would bring value orientation, patriotism and responsibility among citizens and leaders.

Mallam Issa-Onilu who was represented by the Director Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilization, NOA Abuja Mrs. Theresa Maduekwe noted that the first stanza of the national anthem will henceforth be recited at official functions and the three stanzas rendered in special occasions while the third stanza would be adopted as national prayer.

It is also compulsory for the NYSC  among Nigerian Children.

The Imo State Director of the NOA Mrs. StellaMaris Damian-Igwe said the agency had initiated Programmes that would help citizens to hold leaders to account for their stewardship.
