FG FROWNS AT DETENTION OF NFF OFFICIALS AND THE SUPER EAGLES IN LIBYA                                                                  14-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed concern over the detention of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) officials and the Super Eagles at the Al Abraq International Airport in Libya.

A statememt by the spokesperson of the ministry Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe explains that In response to the situation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, contacted his Libyan counterpart, Dr. Abdulhadi Lahweej, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

It says this led to swift actions aimed at reassuring the detained officials and players of their safety.

It states that following the intervention, the Nigerian contingent was able to depart Libya safely.

Ambassador Tuggar appreciated the prompt efforts of the Libyan authorities in resolving the matter, with both ministers reaffirming their commitment to African solidarity and cooperation.
