VP SHETTIMA LAUNCHES DANGOTE FOUNDATION’S ₦100BN SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Vice President Kashim Shettima has launched the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s ₦100 billion annual scholarship programme in Lagos, calling it a bold move to rebuild Nigeria’s human capital.

Aliko Dangote said the 10-year, ₦1 trillion initiative will widen access to quality education through a transparent, merit-based process. Shettima praised his philanthropy and urged more private-sector support for education.

Education Minister Tunji Alausa described the scheme as historic, confirming that 25% of slots will go to persons with disabilities. UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also hailed the impact of the initiative.
