NO CLOSED MARKETS OR ROADS IN ZAMFARA AS SECURITY IMPROVES

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Zamfara State Government says improved security has led to the reopening of all markets and the restoration of free movement on federal and state roads across the state.

Speaking in Gusau, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Press and Public Affairs, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, said areas once affected by banditry are now accessible, allowing residents to move freely and carry out their businesses without fear.

He attributed the progress to the security strategy of Governor Dauda Lawal, which focuses on firm action against criminal groups and close collaboration between communities and security agencies. According to him, routes that were previously unsafe can now be travelled without armed escorts, reflecting growing public confidence.

Kaura said the improved situation has revived economic and social activities, especially farming and local trade, while security agencies continue to respond swiftly to isolated incidents. He added that youth empowerment and social intervention programmes are also helping to sustain peace by reducing unemployment and social vulnerability.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and ensuring that normal life continues across Zamfara.
