TRUMP CLAIMS PROGRESS WITH IRAN AFTER THREATS EASE TENSIONS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Trump says the US and Iran held “productive conversations,” adding that planned military strikes on Iranian power plants have been delayed for five days following rising tensions.

His message follows a 48-hour ultimatum demanding Iran allow safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz or face attacks, a move that risked major escalation.

Iran responded with strong warnings, threatening to strike energy and oil facilities across the region, including Israel, and to shut down the vital waterway that carries a significant share of global oil.

For now, the pause signals a fragile moment of calm, but uncertainty still hangs over the situation.
