NAVY UNCOVERS HIDDEN OIL THEFT FACILITY IN DELTA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigerian Navy has uncovered a concealed crude oil storage facility in Ugbokodo Creek, Delta State, as part of its ongoing crackdown on oil theft under Operation Delta Sentinel.

According to the Navy, the illegal site was discovered following intelligence-led operations supported by aerial surveillance. Investigators found a large reservoir hidden beneath dense vegetation and other materials to evade detection.

The operation led to the recovery of about 17,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil, with authorities saying the facility was being used as a temporary storage point for illegal oil activities.

The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against crude oil theft and protecting the nation’s economic assets.
