KADUNA NDC SET TO HOLD FRESH GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kaduna State says it is set to conduct a fresh governorship primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The State Chairman, Evangelist Mordecai Sunday Ibrahim, disclosed this at a press conference in Kaduna on Wednesday.
Ibrahim dismissed reports that Mohammed Sani Abbas had emerged as the party’s governorship candidate, describing the claim as false and misleading.
He said the State Working Committee was working to produce a recognised candidate within 90 days, in line with the Electoral Act.
According to him, Abbas had not purchased the party’s nomination form or paid the required declaration of interest and administrative fees.
The chairman explained that the party was preparing for a substitution primary following the withdrawal of its initial placeholder candidate and the failure of stakeholders to reach a consensus on a replacement.
He urged Abbas to familiarise himself with party members in his ward and local government before seeking the party’s governorship ticket.
The clarification followed a recent media report in which an unnamed NDC national officer was said to have recognised Abbas as the party’s candidate for the 2027 Kaduna governorship election.
