Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has urged the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to extend its Value Chain Development Programme to all 13 local government areas to boost agriculture and rural development.
Nwifuru made the call while receiving an IFAD delegation at his office in Centenary City, Abakaliki, where he pledged his administration’s support to expand the programme and address the agricultural needs of residents.
The governor commended IFAD for its contributions to the state’s agricultural sector, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening farming and related businesses.
Earlier, IFAD Country Director, Mohammed El-Ghazaly, said the team was in Ebonyi to assess progress made under the Value Chain Development Programme. He said the supervision mission would run until October 21.
The state coordinator of IFAD, Dr Sunday Ituma, said the programme had helped address food insecurity and improve agricultural development in Ebonyi.
