SULTAN OF SOKOTO CALLS FOR PEACEFUL CAMPAIGNS AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTIONS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on political parties and candidates to conduct peaceful, issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Sultan made the call after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Speaking to State House correspondents, he urged political leaders and other stakeholders to exercise restraint, promote national unity and support efforts to maintain peace and stability throughout the electoral process.

The meeting focused on ongoing consultations between the Federal Government and traditional and religious leaders on national development, security and civic responsibility.
