HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO HOST NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON SECURITY AND STATE POLICE                                                                                                                       16-04-24                   By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The House of Representatives, in collaboration with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre, PLAC, and other Development Partners will convene a One-Day National Dialogue on Security and State Police.

A statement by the Spokesman of the House of Representatives Mr. Akintunde Rotimi, says the primary objective of Dialogue is to facilitate a comprehensive national discussion on the merits and challenges of State Police, with a focus on aggregating citizens’ views and perspectives.
The House Notes that the National Dialogue is also aims to propose models as well as institutional and legal frameworks for the effective implementation of state policing in Nigeria.
According to the Statement in line with the Legislative Agenda of the 10th Assembly, which seeks to develop legislative measures to address the prevailing security challenges in Nigeria, the Dialogue would complements the president’s ongoing efforts to reform and strengthen the country’s security architecture for optimal performance.
Mr. Rotimi explains that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas emphasized the urgency of the National Dialogue, stating, “Insecurity in Nigeria demands urgent action and collective responsibility.
He says the the National Dialogue on Security and State Police will provide a crucial platform for stakeholders to come together, engage in constructive dialogue, and propose actionable solutions.

The House of Representatives Spokesman urges stakeholders to seize this opportunity to strengthen the nation’s security architecture and ensure the safety and well-being of all Nigerians.
