The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State has called for increased security at places of worship, particularly during Friday Jumu’at prayers and Sunday church services.
CAN Chairman in the state, Most Reverend Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, made the call following the abduction of worshippers from mosques in Borgu Local Government Area.
Yohanna, who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, condemned the attack and urged the government to provide permanent security presence across Borgu and Agwara communities.
He expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, saying attacks on places of worship threaten the safety of the wider community.
He added that Christians across the state were praying for the safe return of the abducted worshippers.
