By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Tinubu has expressed delight over the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, praising security agencies for bringing the 56-day ordeal to an end.

In a statement, the President commended the military, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force for carrying out the intelligence-led operation that secured the victims’ release without casualties. He noted that eight suspected abductors were arrested, while others were neutralised during the operation.

Tinubu also sympathised with the victims and their families over the trauma they endured and pledged that everyone involved in the abduction, including those responsible for the killing of a victim, would be brought to justice.

The President further applauded the Oyo State Government for its collaboration with the Federal Government throughout the rescue operation and directed relevant emergency agencies to provide medical care, counselling and other relief support for the rescued pupils and teachers.
