Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has urged the newly turbaned district head of Barazzakin Kaura-Namoda, Alhaji Sama’ila Moyi and that of Magizawa Fagoji, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ahmad-Asha to ensure transparency for their subjects.

Matawalle made the call at the turbaning  of the two new district heads and three traditional title holders in Kaura Namoda on Friday.

The three traditional title holders are: Alhaji Nafi’u Dalhatu-Sule as Dallatun Kaura Namoda, Sarkin Makeran Kaura-Namoda, Alhaji Jamilu S-Makera while Alhaji Idris Mai-Zawiyya was turbaned as Sarkin Askin Kaura Namoda.

The governor, represented by the former Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Tijjani Yahaya-Kaura, appealed to traditional rulers to continue supporting the government to extend good governance to the citizens.

“Traditional rulers as custodians of the people, and intermediaries between government and citizens have greater roles to play in promoting peace and stability in the society,” he said.

Matawalle commended the emirate for selecting the newly district heads and traditional title holders considering their good track records.

Earlier, the Emir of Kaura-Namoda, retired Maj. Sanusi Ahmad-Asha urged the traditional rulers and title holders to be good ambassadors to the emirate, government and the people.

Ahmad-Asha urged them to work towards promoting peace, stability and general development of their people.

“You should support government to provide good governance especially in addressing security challenges affecting our communities,” the emir said.

The district head of Barazzakin Kaura-Namoda, Alhaji Sama’ila Moyi, who spoke on behalf of the turbaned district heads and title headers commended the emirate and Zamfara government for giving them responsibilities to serve the people.

He gave the assurance that they would work for the progress, peace and stability as well as general development of the people.
