A Pan African Movement Africans Rising for Unity, Justice, Peace & Dignity says the military take-over of political power in Niger Republic remained condemned and called on the military officers to allow a peaceful resolution to the stalemate and return the country to civilian rule.

In a statement, the organisation urges the international and regional bodies including ECOWAS and African Union to sustain constructive engagements with all relevant actors to maintain peace and stability.

The statement however expressed disagreement with the threats of military intervention by ECOWAS members describing the action as capable of the death of innocent people and the destruction of the country.

It also called on ECOWAS and the AU to be more proactive in dealing with crises within the region and across Africa instead of reacting to situations after they deteriorate.

The organisation called on External powers from West the and East to steer clear of Africa’s internal affairs and desist from making reckless statements hinting at military action.

African Rising is a Pan-African movement of people and organisations, working for peace, justice and dignity.
