KNSG Donates drugs, consumables worth 833,000 to Yadakunya Leprosy Hospital

The Kano state government (KNSG), has supplied free drugs and consumables worth #833,000 to Yadakunya Leprosy hospital, for distribution to patients, admitted at the hospital.

Speaking while handing over the consigment, Kano state Ccmmissioner of health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, said, the donation was to fulfill the pledge made Kano state governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf when he visited the facility.

This was contained in a statement signed by the public relations officer Kano state ministry of health, Ibrahim Abdullahi and made available to Radio Nigeria in Kano.

The Commissioner stated that, the drugs would be supplied on monthly basis, up to the duration directed by the governor.

Dr. Abubakar noted that, Abba Kabir introduced the free drugs policy to to ease Diggi culture, of accessing drugs faced by the hospitalized patients due to their condition, where most of them could not afford to pay for medication.

While charging Kano state hospitals management board, to ensure timely and judicious distribution to the beneficiaries,he said the commodities, amounting to more than N833,000, are for the month of August.

Dr. Abubakar, urged people in the state, to continue rallying round the present administration, in its determination to uplift healthcare system, and archive universal health coverage.

“There is need for people to be safeguarding the hospitals and where we have renovated. The hospitals don’t belong to His Excellency, they are rather belong to the people. When the Governor completes his tenure and go, the hospitals remains in the public domain. Whoever destroys the hospital doesn’t mean well to the people and is cheating the community”

He advised communities to establish hospital committees,saying that, they would play significant roles, in complementing government efforts, by keeping eyes on the affairs of the hospitals, so as to function effectively.

“I will like to use this medium to warn health worker that they should abstain from abusing the patients. Patients need sympathy from us at all the times. Our government will not tolerate such unbecoming attitude from any health personnel”

“I wish to gladly inform you that His Excellency has approved the renovation of this facility. You should expect contractors any moment from now.”

Receiving the items, the executive Secretary Kano state hospitals Mamagement board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his his commitment, to cushion the difficulties patients are experiencing, in getting the drugs especially during this, critical period.

He charged the management of the hospital, to ensure the commodities are distributed to the target beneficiaries, stressing that the board would everything possible to see that the gesture gets to where it is meant for.

The executive secretary, directed management of Yadakunya leprosy hospital, to open a register for documenting names, card numbers of the beneficiaries, and quantity of the drugs recieved, to avoid diversion.
