NIGER GOVERNMENT TO SPEND N3B ACROSS THE 274 WARDS IN THE STATE ON PALLIATIVES

Niger State Government is to spend three billion naira on the provision of palliatives across the two hundred and seventy four wards in the state

This is to cushion the effect of subsidy removal by the Federal Government.

State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago stated this at the closing of a two day retreat organised for Commissioners, members of the State House of Assembly, Special Advisers, Local Government council Chairmen and Heads of  Ministries Departments and Agencies held in Suleja.

Alh Umar Bago explained that each ward in Chanchaga, Bida, Suleja and Kontagora local government councils are to receive twenty million naira while the remaining words in twenty one local government councils are to recieve ten million naira each.

The money according to the Governor,  is to be used in purchasing food items at Ward level for onward distribution to the people at the grassroot level to ease their hardship.

Accoding to him a Committee will be set up in that regards for immediate implementation.

Speaking on the retreat, the Governor charged participants to be proactive in revenue generation stressing that, revenue is what the state requires to drive its developmental plans .

Governor Umar Bago observed that no lofty idea will be meaningful without available funds hence, every stakeholder in governance must  be aggressive and intentional about revenue generation so as to meet the demands of the citizens.

Chairman, Niger State Internal Revenue Sevice, Mohammed Madami Etsu at the event appreciated the Governor for his foresight and assured him that the revenue service will work assiduously to help in achieving the set targets.
