KANO STATE: KNSG REVOKES OPERARING CERTIFICATE OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS…..

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano state government says it has nullified the certificate of operation for all private schools operating in the state with immediate effect.

The Special Adviser to the governor on private and voluntary institutions, Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar, stated this in chat with the media in Kao.

Baba Umar said all schools were expected to collect new registration forms to fill out for the issuance of a new certificate.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to sanitizing the private school operations and ensuring adherence to established laws and guidelines.

He also charged the proprietors to pay their 10 percent tax to the government as it becomes due for the progress of the sector.

Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar re-emphasized Kano State Government’s stance on closing down any school that violates the operational laws of the state, which include equipment, operational environment, curriculum, and terms calendar.

He said a software has been developed that will address all concerns from the government, school proprietors and parents.

The SA also assured parents of protecting their interests and those of their children.

Chairman of the National Association of Private School Owners, Kano state chapter, Alhaji Muhammad Malam Adamu, described the move as fantastic and commendable, as it will further boost the education sector in the state.

He said that anything that operates without proper guiding laws is on the path to collapse, and as private school proprietors, they will work hand in hand with the government to sanitize the system.

He urged their members to cooperate with the new system, as it will also be beneficial to them.

Some of the parents who spoke to Radio Nigeria in Kano Applauded the decision taken by the state government to ensure sanity and efficiency in the educational sector.
