By: Aminu Sadiq As Kogi State commemorates its 32nd anniversary since its creation, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and felicitations to the remarkable citizens of Kogi State. This milestone is not only a celebration of time passed, but a reflection of the adventure that has shaped our state into the vibrant community we proudly call our home.
Kogi State holds a unique place in the heart of Nigeria, known not only for its rich cultural diversity and traditions but also for the exceptional resilience and creativity of its people. From the bustling cities to the serene rural landscapes, rivers and mountains, our state’s diverse tapestry is woven with the threads of unity and shared purpose.
Today, as we commemorate our journey, let us pay gratitude to the past governors and our current governor who have tirelessly contributed to Kogi State’s growth and progress. Their vision and effort have been critical in shaping the success we’ve made thus far, and they deserve our thanks.
The trajectory and progress would not have been possible without the steadfast commitment of its indigens. Your hard work, resilience, and determination have been the driving forces behind our state’s advancement. Your efforts have turned challenges into stepping stones, and your unity has propelled us forward.
Our cultural heritage is a source of pride and strength for Kogi State. I also wish to acknowledge the invaluable role played by the traditional rulers, especially their Royal Majesties: the Attah of Igala, the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, the Obaro of Kabba, who have been custodians of our heritage and beacons of tradition and unity in our state. Succinctly put, transmogrifications in diverse areas of life based on hitherto different agendas to the “New Direction Agenda” and now to the proposed mantra “Kogi Agenda” led by the DUO of ODODO AHMED USMAN AND JOEL SALIFU OYIBO
As we commemorate this anniversary, let us look to the future with optimism and renewed vigour and determination. Kogi’s journey is far from over, and the path ahead holds enormous exciting opportunities and challenges that we will navigate together.
From the innermost recess of my heart, I commend the citizens of Kogi State for their ebullient and unwavering commitment to progress and unity. As we continue this journey, let us carry forward the spirit of camaraderie and innovation that defines us as Kogi people.
