The Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Tijani Bosun stated this while addressing a Sensitization Workshop on Data Privacy/Protection in Nigeria organized by the National Data Protection Commission, NDPC and a world bank funded programme tagged, Digital Identification for Development, ID4D.

Dr Tijani said data which is critical to national, private and public security in all forms must be protected from breaches therefore access, utilisation and operational use must be guided by relevant laws.

The Communications Minister said the President Bola Tinubu administration was also working to use data to create employment and wealth.

The National Commissioner of the National Data Protection Commission, NDPB, Dr Vincent Olatunji said the commission was working assiduously to guide against breaches by all data collecting and processing bodies and called for the cooperation of every Nigeria.

Reacting to a recent issue concerning the submission of certain sensitive data by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Dr Olatunji said the Commission had engaged the Apex Bank in order to work in harmony with it based on the provisions of the National Data Protection Laws of the country.
