The state commissioner of police, Muhammad Hussaini Gumel made the disclosure, shortly after a meeting with the durbar committee, Kano emirate council.

According to him, unconventional horse riding popularly known as hawan durbar, hawan kilisa during weddings and majalisi, is totally banned without approval, across the eight metropolitan local governments in Kano.

The commissioner stressed that, the ban becomes necessary, due to the increase in crimes, where some miscreants especially youths, engage in violent conflicts, injuring one another, during horse riding.

“This Containment Measures taken by the Kano State Police Command is aimed at getting rid of the increasing spate of crimes and criminalities and to totally nip them in the bud”

He maintained that, part of the resolutions of the meeting, held between the Police command and durbar committee Kano Emirate, is to find lasting solutions, to security threats for the overall interest of the public.

The commissioner, urged the public to desist from organizing or partaking in those activities, as violators would be arrested, investigated, and be made to face the full wrath of the law.

While commending Kano residents for their understanding, cooperation, and support,Muhammad urged the public, to report any suspected person or character, to the nearest police division for necessary action.
