KNHA SUSPENDS GWALE LGA CHAIRMAN                                                                                                 10-09-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                   The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Gwale Local Government Council Khalid Ishaq Diso, for a period of three months.

This was sequel to deliberations on the floor of the house, shortly after a report presentation by the house standing committee on local governments and chieftency affairs,during plenary presided by the speaker Alhaji Isma’il Jibril Falgore.

Presenting the report , Alhaji Hamza Zubairu Massu explained that the committee had careful scrutinized the allegations contained in the petition by 6 out of the 10 Gwale councillors.

Part of the allegations includes, the illegal selling of government properties and taking decisions without consultations.

The assembly pointed out that, 6 Gwale council councilors out of 10, petitioned the house over what the described as unconstitutional activities of the chairman.

The Kano State Speaker, Ismail Jibril Falgore noted that, Gwale Chairman was also accused of making unilateral decisions without carrying the councilors along.

The house adopted the recommendations of the committee, and unanimously agreed to the suspension of the chairman Alhaji Khalid Ishaq Diso

The house set up an ad hoc committee, under the leadership of the deputy speaker, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Butu Butu, to investigate the allegations and report back within two months.

The assembly also directed the vice-chairman to take over the affairs of Gwale local government , pending the outcome of the investigation.
