GENDER BASED VIOLENCE: DISTURBING TREND OF RAPES IN KANO, SAY KANO POLICE COMMISSIONER                                                                                        25-09-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                             High increase of Gender Base Violence, rape and other social vices in Kano has Been described as disturbing and uncalled for.

The Commissioner of Police Kano Command Mohammad Hussien Gumel stated this during a peace advocacy forum organizes by Arewa peace ambassadors in Kano.

He said the rate at which the command receives reports on gender base violence cases on daily basis was very alarming, hence necessary measures needed to be implored with a view to addressing the menace.

CP Mohammad Hussein Gumel said the command would seek the support of both state and the federal government geared towards achieving the set objectives.

He appealed to religious, and community leaders to always preach for peace , aimed at curtailing the menace.

In his remark, the chairman of the Peace Ambassadors forum Nura Aliyu Abubakar said the objective of the event was to sensitize youths effects of gender-based violence and other social vices in society.

He called on youths to devoid themselves from engaging in any form of social vices and be vanguards of peace with aim of building a crime free society.

The meeting was attended by youths , religious leaders and other stakeholders.
