63RD INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY: NIGER SSG SUE FOR PEACE…SAYS NIGERIA’S UNITY REMAINS SACROSANCT
Nigerians have been called upon to remain united, live peacefully with one another irrespective of religious, political, or social affiliations, and shun all negative tendencies capable of plunging the nation into chaos.
A statement issued by Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary urged Nigerians to hold the unity and oneness of Nigeria sacrosanct in the interest of present and future generations.
According to the statement, “The enduring significance of the anniversary would find its true meaning if it is used as a platform for deep reflection, a period of soul-searching on how far we have come as a country, what we have been able to achieve and how to chart a new course for a better new Niger State and Nigeria in general”.
The administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has seen the independence anniversary as a veritable avenue to improve the fortunes of the citizens and make them have abiding faith in the State, hence the need for the Nigerlites to use the period to engender the spirit of patriotism, unflinching loyalty and support to the programmes and policies of the present administration designed to bring rapid development to the State, the statement added.
The statement further explained that the present administration led by Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago is leaving no stone unturned in fashioning out strategies that would bring lasting solutions as well as forestall any breach of security in the State.
The statement appealed to the people of the State to be security conscious by reporting any suspicious character or movement to security agencies in order to overcome the present security challenges especially banditry, cattle rustling, and kidnapping that are bedeviling some parts of the country.
Beyond the fireworks, the joy, and the clinking of glasses that come with the epoch-making event, the statement advised that the anniversary be also used to provide the right pathway for cementing our unity and turning our weaknesses into strengths.
