“I WAS INSTRUMENTAL TO TINUBU’S VICTORY” – SAYS EMIR OF DAURA 02-10-23
By Sadiq Aminu The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar said he was instrumental to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emergence as All Progressives Congress candidate and his eventual victory during the 2023 Presidential election.
The Emir stated this when he received the APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who led some party executives on a homage to the Emir’s palace in Daura.
Alhaji Umar Faruk said he had foreseen the competence and good intentions of Tinubu and actively mobilized support for him at a time when other politicians were fighting his bid to succeed Muhammadu Buhari as President.
“I called Bola Ahmed Tinubu and summoned a key figure within Buhari’s kitchen cabinet and asked him to support Tinubu and work with other key party leaders to ensure his victory at the primary and general elections.
“After he emerged at the primary election I continued to mobilize support for him because I had faith in his capacity to deliver the Nigeria of our dreams.
“I am aware of the rumours being peddled by mischief makers trying to dismiss the support I and my people in Daura gave Tinubu in all stages of the campaigns and elections.
While congratulating Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his emergence as APC National Chairman, the Emir prayed for the party under his leadership to succeed in delivering on its campaign promises to the people at all levels.
He also called for sustained prayers from Nigerians for government at all levels to succeed in overcoming the security and economic challenges being faced by Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Ganduje had earlier paid a visit to former President, Muhammadu Buhari, at his country home in Daura where his team was received by the President and some of his aides.
Ganduje told newsmen after the meeting that he paid homage to the former President to introduce the newly reconstituted National Working Committee members of the party to him and to seek his blessings and advice.
“We are here mainly to introduce the newly reconstituted National Working Committee members of our party to the former President, to pay homage to him, to thank him for what he did to this country during his eight years as President and to congratulate him on the occasion of Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary.
“Nigeria has recorded 63 years of development out of which eight years must be apportioned to the Buhari administration”, Ganduje said.
Asked about the party’s reaction to some victories it had recorded at the tribunals, the APC National Chairman expressed his satisfaction with the development.
“We are happy over the party’s victory at the tribunals but that is not enough, we have three off-season elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States, Godwilling we will also win these three elections”, he said.
