By Sadiq Aminu                                                          The Kebbi State Government, has flagged-off the distribution of 126,000 bags of assorted grains as pallatives to the public in the 21 local government areas of the state.

Speaking on the occasion of the flag off of the distribution at Maiyama local government area of the state, Governor Nasiru Idris said, each of the 21 local governments would get 10 trucks from the 210 trucks load of grains and more than 720,000 families, government workers and community members would benefit from the palliatives.

The agencies to benefit includes, educational institutions, Army, Police, Immigration, Customs, Civil defence, Road safety corps and others.

According to the Governor, the palliatives would have direct impact on the well being of families and there would be happiness in their homes.

He said, his administration was aware of the hardship the removal of subsidy and global economic crisis occassioned by the war between Ukraine and Russia has caused the people of the state and the country.

Governor Idris, said his administration was moved to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal by distributing 6,750 tons of fertilizer totaling 136,000 bags at N3.3bn free of charge to farmers in the state recently.

‘We have promised to take agriculture to the highest level for the benefit of our people, that was why we enrolled into the federal government 2023 and 2024 dry season farming programme.

The Governor however, warned that, his administration would deal decisively with any member of the committee saddled with the distribution of the palliatives found wanting.
