PROVISION OF WATER FOR DRINKING, IRRIGATION OUR PRIORITY-PROFESSOR TERLUMUN UTSEV                                                                                         07-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev said the ministry is working assiduously to ensure adequate provision of portable drinking water and irrigation to achieve food sufficiency in the country.

The Minister stated this while speaking at the Inauguration of projects and distribution of empowerment item to youths at the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority in Ilorin,Kwara state.

He said making water available for drinking and irrigation as well as other purposes will enhance economic development of the nation.

Professor Terlumun Utsev explained that the irrigation facilities would provide jobs for the youths to make them self reliant.

He noted that the provisions of water for food production would also generate revenue for government .

In his address the Deputy Director Agric Services, Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Ilorin,Dr Olabisi Awoniyi said the programme would help drive the actualisation of the federal government renewed hope agenda to ensure food security in the country.

In his remarks the Farm Manager, Shonghai Farming Model of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority Ilorin, Mr Tosin Olonijolu said the agric training is open to those interested in venturing into farming.
