CDS- MILITARY DETERMINE TO END INSURGENCY, KIDNAPPING, BANDITRY IN THE COUNTRY 11-10-23
By Sadiq Aminu The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa has expressed commitment to restore total peace in the North East region and the entire country.
General Musa made the commitment while briefing newsmen shortly after receiving intelligence and operational brief at the headquarters Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.
This is the maiden operational visit by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa to headquarters Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai since his appointment.
The Defence Chief said his visit is at the instance of President Bola Tinubu to appreciate officers and soldiers prosecuting the war on terror in the region.
He explained that the armed forces is readjusting its operations and enhancing its capabilities to rid the country from activities of insurgents and other criminal elements.
“those that have been kidnapped, we are making every effort to ensure that we bring them back and to the criminals, their days are numbered, it’s just a matter of time, we going to get them all, so for their own sake, let them surrender or fizzle out of the country completely, because we are going to make Nigeria too hot for them to remain ” Musa emphasized.
General Christopher Musa called on the public to continue to support the military to ensure peace and stability in the region.
The Chief of Defence Staff also interacted with troops in the frontline at 212 Battalion parade ground where he warned against indiscipline and acts capable of tarnishing the image of the armed forces.
He promised to improve on their welfare, assuring that troops will not exceed two years in any theatre of operation.
During a courtesy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum, General Musa informed the Governor that the military is determined to end the war against insurgency.
Governor Zulum said more that 140,000 Boko Haram insurgents and their families have surrendered in the last eighteen months.
He commended the Chief of Defence Staff for his contribution in restoring peace in the state when he was Theatre Commander.
“We must thank the Nigerian Armed Forces for the great support they have rendered, very soon, we shall return the population to Malamfatori and Gudumbali and other locations in the state” Zulum said.
The Defence Chief and his entourage have earlier paid traditional homage to the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi where the royal father acknowledged that peace has returned to the state.
