POST SUBSIDY REGIME:10 OUT OF THE 200 PALLIATIVES CNG BUSES ARRIVES NIGER STATE 17-10-23
By Sadiq Aminu The Niger state government has signed a Memoradum Of Understanding with four different companies for the procurement of two hundred CNG buses at the cost of seven billion naira.
They were meant to cushion the effect of subsidy removal by the Federal Government.
Special Adviser to the Niger State Governor on Print Media Aisha Wakaso announced this while addressing Newsmen in Minna the Niger state capital.
Aisha Wakaso further explained that already ten of such buses that would served as samples for Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to see and make recommendation have arrived Minna.
According to her some of the buses would be used for Civil Servants while others would also be used for students as free transportation to schools with a view to ammeliorate their hardship and encourage them to realise their potentials.
On education Aisha Wakaso however explained that Niger state government has paid over two hundred and five million naira to the National Examinations Council NECO as backlog.
She said the state government also pleged to pay twenty million naira monthly to the examination body to clear the backlog inherited from the past administration since government is a continues process.
In his remarks Niger state Commissioner for Lands and Survey Barrister Maurice Magaji said the six hectares of land given to the contractor handling various road projects awarded by the state government under its urban renewal policy has been cleared and that they have started moving their equipments to site which would at long run provide job opportunities for both skilled and unskilled youths in Niger state
Special Adviser to the Niger state Governor on Social Investment Programme Hajiya Hauwa Bako Mohammed added that at the moment what they are trying to do is to look at how to sustain the momentum and how to bring innovative solutions that would helped to keep the youths women and low income earners busy towards addressing idleness across the state.
