CORRUPTION: KANO STATE LEADS THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION- GOVERNOR YUSUF                                                                                           19-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                          Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State says the state has been rated among the leading states in terms of fighting corruption across the country.

The Governor stated this during the opening ceremony of a one day Anti-corruption symposium on the roles of Law Enforcement Agencies in the fight against corruption organized by Kano state public complaints and Anti- corruption commission in conjunction with the Nigeria Police force Kano Command, held at Kano Anti-Corruption institute.

Represented by the secretary to the state government Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi said his administration was not interfering, and will not interfere on the activities of the commission.

He said the present administration had inherited a lot of alleged corrupt cases from the immediate past administration.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf noted that the workshop would enhance collaboration between the security agencies and the commission, aimed at ensuring that the laws of the commission were fully enforced.

“just yesterday a Kano state high court delivered a judgment in favour of the commission, it says the commission has the jurisdiction to investigate on any alleged corrupt case in the state”                 In his remark the chairman of the state Anti-Graft agency Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado said the objectives of the symposium is to enhance synergy between the commission and the security agencies geared towards achieving the set objectives.

He added that the commission would not relent in its fight against corruption.

Earlier, the State Commissioner of Police Mohammed Usaini Gumel said the Kano Police Command and other security agencies in the state would continue to accord all the necessary support to the commission to achieve the desired outcome in the fight against corruption in the state.

The workshop attracted participants from all the security agencies in the state.
