FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ASSURES PAYMENT OF NEW MINIMUM WAGES BY APRIL 2024                                                                                                             02-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                          The Outgoing Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission ICPC, Prof Bolaji Owasanoye says constant review and payment of good wages will reduce Corruption in the Civil Service.

He stated this in Abuja during National Policy Dialogue on Living Wages and Corruption in Nigeria organised by the Agency in Collaboration with Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies and supported by Mac Arthur Foundation.
Prof. Owasanoye maintained that the increase in Salary and Wages as and when due would reduce Corruption in Public Service.

The Chairman, National Salaries and Wages Commission, Mr Ekpo Nta expressed the Federal government’s Commitment to commence the payment of new Minimum Wage in April next year.

The Representatives of President of Trade Union Congress and Nigeria Labour Congress, Dr Tommy Okoh and Auwal Mustapha urged the Federal to government to prioritise good living Wages of its Workers to enhance productivity and rapid Socio-economic Development of the Nation.

A key note Speaker, Prof Dafe Otobo described Corruption as a complex phenomenon that has eaten deep in all sectors of the nation’s economy.

Prof Otobo advocated more welfare packages and social and needed infrastructure for Public Servants to work effectively.
