NLC AND TUC GIVE IMO GOVT CONDITIONS TO MEET, AS INDUSTRIAL ACTION LOOMS                                                                                                    03-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC ) have demanded for the immediate investigation of the Commissioner of Police in Imo state for his unprofessional behaviour and conduct during the NLC protest in the State.

The Deputy President of Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Etim Oko stated this at a Press Brisfing in Abuja on Friday.

Comrade Oko also called for the removal of the Area Commander of Nigeria Police Force and other officers in Owerri for harrassing and humiliating the NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero.

The Labour Unions also called on the Imo state government to immediately implement all outstanding and previous agreements on workers welfare.

Union therefore resolved that if the lmo state government fails to meet their demands and conditions of NLC and TUC, their affilates will be mobilized for industrial action beginning from Wednesday 8th of November 2023.

The President of NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero represented by Deputy President of the Union, Comrade Adeyanju Adewale decried the inadequate security protection for the protesters by the police in Owerri.

The joint National Excutive Council (NEC) of two Labour Centres promised to meet, on next course of action.
