By Sadiq Aminu                                                  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 3 Executive Commissioners in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, and the redeployment of one Executive Commissioner, pending their confirmation by the Senate.

In a statement, Mr. Bashir Indabawa, from Niorthwest, will serve as Executive Commissioner, Exploration and Acreage Management, and Dr. Kelechi Ofoegbu, from Southeast, re-deployed to serve as Executive Commissioner, Corporate Services and Administration.

The rest are Mr. Enorense Amadasu, representing South-south, as Executive Commissioner, Development and Production, Mr. Babajide Fasina, Southwest, to serve as Executive Commissioner, Economic Regulation and Strategic Planning.

According to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the appointments are based on the President’s informed assessment of factors concerning the sector with a view to establishing a regulatory framework and culture that will check errant behaviour, encourage diligence, and rules-based business practice across the industry.
