44 LGAS OF KANO DEFEND BUDGETS BEFORE KANO STATE ASSEMBLY                                                                13-12-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                    Kano state government (KNSG), has reiterated it’s commitment, to improving the lives of it’s citizens, through human development projects.

The chairman Bunkure local government area,Alhaji Abdulra’uf Umar Nadabo, made the indication shortly after defending his local government budget, before Kano state house of assembly.

According to him,the 2024 proposed budget estimate of Bunkure local government would focus attention on building classrooms, furniture, dispensaries,beds and hospital equipments and renovation of the local government Secretariat.

Others are setting up a computer center for training and students registration,road networks and water supply.

The chairman Tarauni local government area, Alhaji Abubakar Zakari Muhammad pointed out that,as the law stipulates they were at Kano state house of assembly to defend their 2024 proposed budget.

He said youth empowerment and employment,human capital development,health and education are some of the top priorities of the proposed estimate.

Similarly, the chairman Bichi local government area,Dr. Yusuf Mohammad Sabo noted that security, agriculture,water, sanitation, education projects and other relevant sectors, would be executed in the 2024 financial year.

The chairman house standing committee on local governments, who doubles as member representing Sumaila constituency, Alhaji Hamza Zubairu Massu stressed that, the committee has scrutinized local governments budgets, and recommended the increase in internally generated revenue (IGR).

He hinted that,a large percentage of the LGAs have not met 40% of their targets in terms of performance,due to elections and other factors.

Others local governments who spoke during the budget defence includes Ungoggo,Gwale,Dala,Bebeji among others.
