MINISTER OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT OFFICIALLY RESIGNS TO TAKE HIS SENATORIAL SEAT                                                                             20-12-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                 Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr Simon Lalong has officially tendered his resignation to President Bola Tinubu to enable him take his seat as Senator Representing Plateau South Senatorial District.

A statement by the Special Adviser (Media) to the outgoing minister, Dr. Makut Macham says the Senator-elect, Mr Lalong has submitted his Certificate of Return and relevant documents to the clerk of the Senate.

He also met with the Deputy Senate President Sen. Barau Jibrin, former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Senator representing Plateau Central District Diket Plang and some Senators

In a letter submitted to the President on Tuesday, 19th December 2023, the Minister said the Court of Appeal declared him as the duly elected Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him the Certificate of Return.

The outgoing Minister thanked President Bola Tinubu for the honour and privilege of serving in his Cabinet and for the personal support and guidance he gave him during his assignment as Minister.

Mr Lalong promised to continue to give President Tinubu his loyalty, support and cooperation towards the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the success of the APC in pursuit of a stronger, united and more prosperous Nigeria.

The outgoing Minister will be sworn in as Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District on Wednesday (Today).
