GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE APPRECIATES PRESIDENT FOR BEING UNBIAS IN INTER-PARTY LITIGATIONS 19-01-24
The Governor, elected on the platform of the PDP, won his case at the Supreme Court, and came to thank the President for not interfering in the litigation to favour his party’s gubernatorial flagbearer in Plateau State.
He told State House correspondents that he was glad that the President allowed the judiciary to perform its functions as it should, thereby guaranteeing its independence.
“I therefore must come to thank him for exercising that restraint because those who wanted to pervert justice also brought tremendous pressure on him to see how he could interfere, but I must put it that Mr. President choosing not to interfere is a credit to his statesmanship, is a credit to his credentials as sound democrat, and this is the only way we can ensure that our institutions mature to the point where they can guarantee not only the survival of democracy, but also ensure that institutions should be able to survive, develop and outlived individuals”, he stressed.
On the security situation on the Plateau, the Governor said relative calm had returned, adding that security agencies are on the pursuit of the perpetrators of the recent killings.
The Governor said his administration, in collaboration with the Federal Government and international donor partners were doing their utmost to give solace to families of those killed, and the internally displaced persons.
He called for constant a security surveillance to prevent further occurrence of needless bloodshed.
