KANO MAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE OVER N2M                                                                                                                         26-01-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 37-year old man, Saifullahi Rabiu, who allegedly attempted to take his own life, after failing to refund of N2m to those he assisted in obtaining travel visa.

The Public Relations Officer, Kano state fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi made the disclosure to newsmen in Kano.

According to him, the unfortunate incident occured at State Road in Kano.

He explained that, the agency received a distress call at about 10:07a.m from the Ministry of Works and Housing, of a suicide attempt by a man hanging on a tree.

“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our fire fighting vehicle to the scene at 10:10a.m,”

Saminu stressed that, the victim a resident of Samegu Quarters, Kumbotso local government area, attempted to commit suicide over his inability to refund N2m to those he tried to assist in obtaining a travel Visa.

The public relations officer, pointed out that, during interrogation Saifullahi confessed that, he connected some people to those who process travel visas to foreign countries, which was not successful.

“Those he tried to help, however, rejected the Visa, saying it was not the type they paid for, and demanded a refund of their money already paid to the processors.”

Saminu maintained that, reports indicate that, Rabiu was able to raise N500,000, but due to pressure and threats from those people, he tried to commit suicide.

He noted that, the victim was rescued unharmed and handed over to inspector Zahraddeen of the farm Centre police division.

The public relations officer, advised the public to desist from engaging in business activities that might lead to trouble.
