KDSG INAUGURATES COMMITTEE ON THE RESETTLEMENT OF DISPLACED COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHERN KADUNA                                                          04-03-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        Kaduna State government has inaugurated a committee on the resettlement of displaced communities in Southern Kaduna affected by various incidences of insecurity.

The State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe inaugurated the committee at government House Kaduna.

Dr Hadiza Balarabe said as the chairman of the committee, she was aware of the significance of their task and responsibility towards citizens who have been displaced from their homes due to various challenges.

She stressed that, the plight of the displaced persons is heavy on their collective effort, revealing that, it was imperative that, the state government to take decisive action to address their needs and facilitate their resettlement.

The Deputy Governor explained that, the primary objective of the committee was to devise comprehensive strategies for the effective resettlement of displaced persons in the Southern part of Kaduna State which entails to have access to basic amenities, healthcare, education, and livelihood opportunities.

As well as to prioritize the restoration of their sense of dignity and belonging within their communities.

“It is crucial that we approach this task with empathy, sensitivity, fairness, sense of urgency and a commitment to inclusivity”

Dr Hadiza Balarabe urged members of the committee to actively engage with the displaced communities, listening to their voices, understanding their concerns, and involve them in the decision-making processes that affect their lives.

She further called on the members of the committee to leverage the expertise and resources available to them, both within the government and through partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, and humanitarian agencies.

According to her, Collaboration would be key to their success, as they work towards the common goal of facilitating the dignified return and sustainable reintegration of displaced persons into their communities.

The Deputy Governor expressed confidence that, with their collective effort, they can achieve their objectives and bring hope and stability to those in need.

Deputy Governor Dr Hadiza Balarabe is the Chairman of the Committee, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs Kabiru Mai Nadibi as Secretary, other members of the committee are Secretary to the State government, Executives Vice Chairman, Kaduna Peace Commission, Dr Sale Momale.
