By Sadiq Aminu                                                    Fire destroyed property worth millions of naira in Sokoto central market in the early hour of today Monday., the 18/03/2024.

The fire which started at about three a:m, in the morning, gutted the motorcycles and bicycles section of the market.

Speaking to Africa 247  in Sokoto state, the chairman of Motorcycles Marketers Association, Shehu Muhammad, said they could not quantify the number of motorcycles burnt by the fire because it was still raging.

He lamented that many people lost their shops along with their motorcycles because they could not come in time as the fire started around 3 :am

Africa 247 also gathered that the federal and state fire services are still battling, to quench the fire as at the time of writing this report.

The chairman appealed to the state government to come to the aid of those who lost their property during the inferno.
