STUDENTS INVOLVED IN CULTISM, DRUG ABUSE TO BE DISQUALIFIED FROM STUDENTS LOAN                                                                                      04-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      Students involved in Examination Malpractice, drug abuse, cultism and other forms of social voices to be disqualified from Students Loan Scheme signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday.
The Chairman House Committee on Students Loan and Scholarship Mr. Gboyega Isiaka made this known in Abuja while interacting with journalists on the signing into law, the Students Loan Fund by President Tinubu.
Mr. Isiaka, who lauded President Tinubu for prioritizing the interest of Nigerian Students, said the law also made three months imprisonment or fine of two million Naira as a penalty for any employer who failed to adhere to rules of loan status of the employee who benefitted from the student loan.
He said some of the rules concerning the students Loan Scheme was to promote morality and values among Nigerian students.
The Chairman House Committee on Students Loan and Scholarship, emphasized that issues associated with the bottlenecks in accessing the loan has been removed.
He said the students Loan Fund covers Public tertiary institutions, vocational and skill education.
Mr. Isiaka who commended President Tinubu for the Students Loan Fund, said the Scheme has now provided opportunity for Nigerian students to pursue their dreams in education without hindrances of Funds.
The law maker also commended the National Assembly for the priority attached to scheme during its delibrations as a Bill in the National Assembly.
