KEBBI AND NIGER STATES RESOLVED TO ANALYSE BOUNDARY INSTRUMENTS AND DOCUMENTS TO CLARIFY CONTENDING ISSUES ALONG INTER-STATE BOUNDARY                                                                         19-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                The boundary committees of Kebbi and Niger states have resolved to analyse available boundary instruments and documents to clarify contending issues along the inter-state boundary.
The Chairmen of the committees made this known in Abuja at a joint meeting of officials on the Kebbi -Niger inter-state boundary disputes organised by the National Boundary Commission.

The Chairman, Kebbi state Boundary and deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, represented by the Special Adviser on Boundaries, Mr. Sadiq Diggi and his Niger state counterpart, Yakubu Garba represented by Surveyor-General of the state, Mr. Idris Auna agreed to adopt a technical approach to resolving the disputes.

The Director General, National Boundary Commission, Mr Adamu Adaji advocated the need for the states to enlighten the affected communities on the essence of interstate boundaries and ensure visible demarcation.
“I urge the relevant border communities to continue to maintain peaceful coexistence and understanding with all their neighbours while necessary efforts are made towards the permanent resolution of the boundary” he appealed.
Mr. Adaji further appealed to state governments to fund the boundary committees to allow for systematic and timely execution of all planned works in boundary solutions and definition process.
