LEADERS OF PDP FROM IMO NORTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT (OKIGWE ZONE) IN IMO STATE HAVE ANNOUNCED THEIR RESIGNATION FROM THE PARTY                                                                                 24-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                               Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party from Imo north senatorial district otherwise known as Okigwe zone in Imo state have announced their resignation from the party.

This is coming hours after the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Chief Emeka Ihedioha dumped the umbrella party.

Addressing Journalists in Owerri an Ex-Officio member of the party in the South East Chief Stanley Ekezie cited impunity and intimidation of members of the party in the state as reasons for leaving the peoples Democratic Party.

According to him, the party in the south east especially in Imo had been engrossed in a contrived prolonged crisis which the national leadership of the PDP had failed to resolve despite several representations on the issues.

Chief Ekezie also stated that the recent happenings at the national level of the PDP were indications that the erstwhile formidable party had failed to function as a strong opposition party.

While expressing gratitude to the party for giving them the opportunity to serve in different capacities the members who compromised some state officers and zonal executive members said they would make their next political move public in due course.

The former Chairman of the party in Okigwe zone Mrs. Amarachi Owuamanam alleged that the party was now being controlled by non members of the party adding that they could no longer condone it.
