MEDIA TOUR BY DEFENCE MEDIA OPERATIONS REVEALS RELATIVE PEACE RESTORED IN BORNO STATE AND IT’S ENVIRONS IN THE NORTH EAST                                                                                             25-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                               The media tour, coordinated by Defence Media Operations at Defence Headquarters, Abuja, reveals that relative peace has been restored in Borno State and its surroundings amidst the ongoing security challenges in the North East.

The purpose of the tour is to evaluate the effectiveness of Operation Hadin Kai and the notable achievements of the troops thus far.

During the visit to Maimalari Cantonment, the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Waidi Shaibu highlighted the troops’ accomplishments over the past decade in combating the Boko Haram insurgency.

He emphasised the sustained efforts of the troops through various operations to restore peace and stability in the region.

General Shaibu underscored that as a result of the troops’ dedication, no local government is currently under the control of the terrorists, and socioeconomic activities have resumed in the North East without fear or hesitation.

According to him the National youth service Corps scheme has since been revived and the suspension on west Africa examination council in some area hit by insurgency lifted.

He added that the troops also embark on several non-kinetic operations to foster peace and security in the region.

Explorations in Maiduguri town, Chabbol community, Muna garage, Molai, and Konduga local government areas demonstrated the return of normalcy to previously embattled areas.

Residents of Chabbol village praised the military for ensuring their safety and urged the government to expedite actions to facilitate their return to farming for a secure livelihood.

At the 222 battalion stationed in Kunduga, Lieutenant Colonel Joel Mohammed, the Sector Commander, reiterated the troops’ unwavering commitment to securing the region.

He emphasised the importance of continued support from Nigerians in the fight against insurgency.

During the tour, Maimalari Cantonment cemetery was also visited in honour of fallen heroes who sacrificed for Nigeria’s peace and prosperity.

The tour provided firsthand insights into the troops’ operations, strategic maneuvers, and their impact on the local communities.

It also shed light on the challenges faced, the progress achieved, and the future outlook for maintaining peace and security in the North East region.
