By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The House of Representatives Committee on Interior has announced an investigation into irregularities surrounding the issuance of international passports and the utilization of resident permits.
Vice Chairman of the Committee, Ayuba Adele made this known in Abuja, during an interactive session with management staff of IRIS Smart Technology and Continental Transfer Technique to seek ways to ensure a more efficient and transparent process for international passports and resident permits.

Mr. Adele, who said the decision follows petitions and complaints from Nigerians regarding the processes, emphasized the need to identify shortcomings and implement necessary reforms to improve the system.
Adele, futher stated that the committee will investigate the expatriate quota as part of its statutory mandate, expressing concern that no individual or entity can provide an accurate number of expatriates resident in Nigeria.

The Vice Chairman stressed that the integrity of immigration procedures and the prompt and equitable treatment of citizens and residents depend on the investigations.
