CITN APPLAUDS THE DECISION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO SUSPEND THE INTRODUCTION OF CYBER SECURITY LEVY                                                                       14-05-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The chartered Institute of Taxation in Nigeria, CITN, has applauded the decision of the Federal Government to suspend the introduction of the cyber security levy.

The president of the Institute, Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi gave the applaud during the 26th CITN Annual Tax Conference in Abuja.

At the occasion, the Chairman in council and President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in Nigeria, CITN, Mr Samuel Agbeluyi observed that effective tax system was critical towards addressing the socio economic challenges in the country.

Mr Agbeluyi stressed the need for goverments to gauge the mood of citizens before embarking on any tax policies.

Declaring the conference open, a former governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun advised government at all levels to depart from funding their budgets through borrowing.

For the auditor General of the Federation, Mr. Shaka Shira, multiple Taxation, tax evasion and the lack of proper accounting system were challenges inherent in the nation’s tax system.

The conference has as it theme: Sustainable Tax Culture And Economic Roadmap For Nation Building.
